WHAT IS MICRONEEDLING?
Mironeedling is a treatment I’ve offered in my studio for almost a decade to help reverse the visible signs of aging. It involves a device that inserts very fine and short needles into the skin for rejuvenation.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF MICRONEEDLING
The purpose of microneedling is to create thousands of channels in the skin. Each channel is a micro injury that triggers a healing process that ultimately stimulates the formation of new collagen. In general, microneedling is used to treat fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation, acne scars and injury scars, stretch marks, crepey skin, and hair loss. It’s a popular treatment because it requires little to no downtown, can be used on all skin colors, and is inexpensive in comparison to laser treatments promising similar results.
WHAT DEVICE DO I USE?
Many different devices can be used to provide Microneedling treatments. There are stamps, rollers, digital devices, and now machines that combine microneedling with radio frequency, and you know what – I’ve tried them all.
My professional experience with microneedling started with the SkinPen, then I moved to an unbranded digital device, followed by a Korean stamper that allowed me to customize the serum, and most recently I invested in a Procell Therapies device. My Dad would say I always learn the hard way, but I believe I’m forever curious.
WHY PROCELL THERAPIES?
I’m thrilled to finally be using the Procell device because it checks all my boxes. I wanted a device that didn’t require numbing, wasn’t painful, required less then 20 minutes to perform, and most importantly incorporates the science of regenerative stem cells.
WHY STEM CELLS?
Stem cells are important because everyday sun damage, internal inflammation, chemicals and even gravity work against the youthful vitality of the skin. As you get older, fewer stem cells are available to repair daily damage. However, human growth-factor serums derived from bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells are known to promote scarless healing with minimal inflammation and can be used in combination with microchanneling to create a dream treatment.
WHAT IS INVOLVED IN A PROFESSIONAL TREATMENT?
An in-office microneedling treatment at Skin By Tata takes about an hour. The treatment starts with a double cleanse, dermaplaning to gently exfoliate, and an alcohol tone to degrease the skin. Once the skin is prepped and ready, stem cells are applied to the skin in sections and penetrated using the Procell Therapies device. Three passes are made per section, and the face and neck are divided into five sections. The decollete can be added to any treatment for an additional fee. Once the treatment is completed, a hydrating sheet mask is applied to the skin, and an LED panel is placed over the face for 10 minutes.
WHAT ARE THE POST CARE RECOMMENDATIONS?
There is little to no down time following a Procell treatment. Aside for the stem cells applied during the treatment, clients are asked to avoid all moisturizer, sunscreen and makeup for 2 hours. For at least three days following a treatment or until the skin no longer feels sensitive, a mild cleanser, stem cell serum, moisturizer, and sunscreen are recommended. Once any sloughing or flakiness have subsided, additional products can be reintroduced. Procell treatments are recommend every 30-45 days in a series of at least three treatments.
WHAT DOES A TREATMENT COST?
A treatment costs $300 for a single treatment or $750 for a series of 3.
